Challenge yourself with fat biking! A "fat bike" has a mountain bike frame with wide tires, minimum of 3.8 inches, allowing you to go where a normal bike won't take you. Bike through the snowy trails of the Enchanted Mountains.

This is a whole new experience of biking, and lets you bring out the adventure in you!

There are many areas through the Enchanted Mountains to fat bike along.

Allegany State Park

There is a variety of trails through Allegany State Park. This is the perfect place to go if you're new to the fat bike world.

McCarty Hill State Forest and Rock City

McCarty Hill State Forest is one of the most popular areas for the regular far bikers. These trails are groomed regularly and located in the Ellicottville area. These trails are maintained by Western New York Mountain Biking Association.

HoliMont

HoliMont has direct access to McCarty Hill State Forest. Their trails are always open to ride at your own risk.

Golden Hill State Park

2,283 acres that is opened year around in the Great Valley area! The trails for biking are multiple use and most require a high level of skill. These trails are maintained by Western New York Mountain Biking Association.

First Day Bike Ride at Allegany State Park 2024

Next Level Mountain Biking will be leading a ride in the Red House area. Meet at the Administration Building at 11:00 am on January 1, 2024. The pace and the length of the ride will be moderate and be determined by the participants. Participants may split into different paced groups, if necessary. No one will be left behind. Fat tire bikes are suggested, given the range of conditions likely to be present, however, use your best judgement for the conditions of the day.

Family Bike Ride at Allegany State Park 2023

Want to work off some of the turkey or treats; or just spend some time outdoors with other biking families? Join us as we take an evening ride along the Red House Bike Path. Meet at Camp Allegany at 6:15 pm with the ride starting at 6:30 pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult and wear a helmet.  You do not have to have a fat bike for this ride, but you will need a headlamp or a bike light. Please, no balance bikes, or bikes with training wheels.

Allegany State Park Trails

Allegany State Park has many beautiful trails that you can hike, bike, cross-country ski, rollerblade, ride horseback, mountain bike, snowmobile and more. Most of the trails are used throughout the entire year such as the groomed snowmobile trails that double as horseback riding trails in the summer.
